Confession

by Leonard M Hawkes

"Whereby are you reconciled in this?"
Querried the Reed, also nodding
In the wind.

And in the Mire, Naked,
As before God;
I spoke the name of Love,
Evoked the Blood,
"For Adam Fell, and likewise
You and me."

And he whispered, "Prayer,"

I "Hope."

He uttered, "Mercy,"

I "Light."

And honestly
Hypocrisy raised
Her green devouring head--
Questioning.

"The root of death?"
He asked.

"No," I Reasoned,
"Surely the Seed of Life."

Oh, the guilted wiles of mutual lust! Especially like the last line. Clever and revealing, Leonard. Good job.
