Cemetery

by Angela Hanska

The eagle calls for its mate
The breeze blows gently by
The old oak watches over and protects
So many worn and broken
How many have been forgotten?

There is a place here like nowhere else
Where the silence is no longer deafening
But calm and peaceful
Where people come together
From all walks of life
All shapes and sizes
As well as ages too

Where time stands still
Where you think of what once was
And how people lived
Where loved ones come to visit
And others come to stay

This is where I feel at peace
For there is no violence, racist, or hate
This is what our world should be like

Very strong ending! Brilliant. It's sad that the world can't be like that.

Well written; reminds me of Godard's Notre Musique

Very well described, this place, and to make a cemetery a refuge for the living, in addition, is a unique perspective. Thank you.
