you probably want my twin

by Charlie Morgan

waking to a morning of "I am
therefore You are", i stretch.
i sign the sun's permission slip,
he'd been away for two days.

i am a wisher; a well is all i need.
well, not all; quarters, nickels, dimes
should fall from the sky. dropped.
errant birds flying-by look back.

even on this long laborious walk,
i find myself taking short steps.
wondering will i ever get there?
hoping i may not ever get there.

Monday ants with red tail lights;
follow the pheromones crawling past exits,
looking for their downtown nest.
spend the day doing ant chores.

it was another Gabriel Ricard story,
he colluded with Robert Bloch; in the
corner was H.P. Lovecraft, stirring
the caldron: steaming, bubbling.

they had an old man cornered:
music coming out of a box;
the old man was confused.
how did the band get in?

he kept repeating,
i'm the shorter twin;
the taller one is home,
living without me.

Ok, I think the word "brilliant" works well for this poem. Well developed, it makes me chuckle, and look for the gathering crowd around your storied words. Thank you, thank you...
