Do Not Judge a Book by its Cover

The journey begins.

Wade and I began the RV journey across America on a Thursday night 9 days ago (October 4,2012).We pulled out from in front of our home in Goldsboro, NC at one minute to midnight, arriving at the Sycamore Lodge near Pinehurst North Carolina around 3:30. We left there Sunday afternoon and spent the night at our oldest son's home in Thomasville. Everyone loved the RV, especially the grandchildren. Late Monday morning we left their house heading for Grandfather Mountain with our youngest granddaughter, Lilly who will be 4 on Nov. 4th. She is our only grandchild, besides her little 1 yr old baby brother, that LOVES to eat Trout (a favorite food of ours).
At Grandfather Mt., we also rented a cabin because my brother was going to join us.We had the cabin the only available time which was Tuesday-Saturday.We have the RV site booked from this past Monday (the 8th)until the following Wednesday(17th).We planned to enjoy The Blueridge Parkway, hiking and playing our music. My daughter drove from Asheville(where she is a student at UNC majoring in Environmental Science)to join us Monday afternoon as she had a few days off from her job. She is a full time student working part time and makes top grades. She is also very musical and artistic. And,Jolene, my daughter-in -law came up at noon on Tuesday with my other 3 grandchildren and to retrieve Lilly. We were going to do something fun like Tweetsie Railroad but I got a phone call from Robbie instead. It is complicated to explain in entirety the details(and these entries are basically a diary-like documentation to be used later for my own purposes). We had to cancel those plans and arrange to go back on Wednesday to bond my youngest son, Robbie out of jail in Rocky Mount.Jolene had to go back anyway because she started getting sick. Then all the kids became sick and stayed home from school and THEN my brother calls saying he can't make it because he has come down with the flu!It is a beautiful day today and I need to wind this up quick. So, the quick version: Robbie(now 21yrs)got set-up-busted for a small amount of pot at a skatepark when he was 16 the Friday before mother's day in a corrupt town with serious race problems.Fast forward:more mess concerning this but finally getting past it, Robbie relocated to Greenville and is now a student at Pitt Tech, doing well and making good grades. He was on a probation with 9 days to serve for misdemeanor pot. His PO was a racist jerk [IMO]and did not cooperate in the relocation. Robbie's moped broke down trying to make a meeting and he ended up "violating". So Robbie said to heck with it and decided to turn himself in and do the time instead and following his PO's directions, he was told he could bond out with 5,000 and of course the plan was to try to avoid missing classes and try to do the remaining time on week-ends. But noooo...it did not go down like that...I transferred those funds to his account before we left for this trip because I don't need the services of a bondsman and can afford to pay the bond myself...but we he went in this past Tuesday, the magistrate (a black woman who my husband actually saved from losing her job years ago but doesn't remember him now...and yes, I don't need to side track on that story, although relevant)...anyway, she told Robbie that: "No, son, It's not $5,000 bond but rather, it is going to be a $50,000 bond. Now this is just outrageous, especially when I am fully aware of Julius Peppers father,a now former Nash County Sheriff's Deputy, who got busted with a felony charge of 4 oz. of cocaine and only got a $1,000 bond:
http://www.rockymounttelegram.com/news/father-nfl-star-julius-peppers-arrested-drug-charges-517175
Well, we are going to try to take our "Last-chance-to-see-America-before-the-gas-gets-too-high" trip anyway, despite all this. We had to leave Grandfather Mt.Wednesday morning so I could cash some bonds to get the $50,000 and post. I am sure it shocked a few.The ladies at the clerk of court were actually quite nice, even after we teased them and told them we would bring it all in ones!We have been making many many phone calls to other agencies...to reopen if it is not still ongoing, their investigation and it may not stop there...I am seriously considering hiring a very good lawyer....oh, and those that would and HAVE judged and ACCUSED me of being a "racist,a bigot, homophobic and/or deluded" are no longer my friends whether here or anywhere because, in my view, they are deceived,koolaid-drinking liberals living in their hippy happy glory days PAST and it seems that many just read blogs and tweet distorted information.
In ending, I did not point out that everything in the RV worked and well stocked (books, art supplies, etc.) and it did not leak-we stayed in it for a week in front of my house, checking for such things before taking it out on a real road trip. But after we got to Grandfather,it started leaking(but just a little bit)and the DVD player, Wade's keyboards and my cannon digital camera ALL STOPPED WORKING!Fortunately, I had an extra DVD player I used when I was teaching and was able to pick it up on the way to deal with Robbie's fiasco. That was easy to fix!Wade's keyboard started working again but I had to buy a new camera......of which pictures will be forthcoming...to be continued-but for now...got to GO....THIS DAY IS JUST TOO BEAUTIFUL! THANK YOU GOD!
PS Currently I am reading 2 books simultaneosly:
"Mugged:Racial Demagoguery From the Seventies to Obama" by Ann Coulter
and
"Confront and Conceal: Obama's Secret Wars and Surprising Use of American Power" by David Sanger
SOo far, both are proving to be excellent books....

I have been thinkinking,Pathetic. THINKINKING is a new made up word of mine.It is the start of a new journal and continued work in my old one (my first altered book project, which has been the artistic altering of an old slated-for-the-dumpster elementary school dictionary). Life has been changing rapidly and this past Friday I drove home my newly acquired RV.I have big plans concerning use of this RV.The past few days we have been camping out in it in front of our house. We are in RV self training school mode and I have been stocking it with all the necessities for our impending journey. We will head South as the weather gets cold. For now we hope to take it up to Grandfather Mountain to admire the changing of Autumn colors.I am documenting the experiences in a pictorial diary form.I have no regrets and I am no longer a slave to the system. Freedom is at my door. At 58, I am thrilled to be able to put on my Golites and hike a mountain and dance a jig while many of my friends and acquaintances are getting fat and sick with heart and kidney and liver diseases and disorders.Cancer, stroke and heart attacks have already taken a few, many at an early age.Why is that? Could it be our health habits?Could be what we eat?

Hmmm....

I recently read this on FB...HMMMmmm...these 5 sentences make sense to me!

1.You can not legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.

2.What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3.The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4.You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

5.When half the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
