The Journal of JJ Johnson Poetry reading in Albany

I got home a short time ago from a poetry reading in Albany, NY and was glad to see several of the poets from Woodstock came up to read. I went with a couple of friends fro Albany last week to read at the Voices For Peace reading in Woodstock last weekend and was inspired by the turnout, more than 50 regional poets were there. In the afternoon at another reading for disaster relief aide, there were around 20 poets. All in all, it was a really great day for poetry. So tonight, I was one of about 15 poets at the reading in Albany and decided I would read the poem I wrote last week, "Pay For The War" since it is my most recent poem and about both Katrina and the war. I haven't been very inspired over the last year or so. I think mainly because I haven't been inspired about much in life. The whole war and world situation has gotten me down and I honestly am not very optimistic about life these days. I am concerned that not only is America heading straight down into the flames and brimstone, the rest of the world is doomed. If I truly had faith, I'd be standing on a street corner with a sign that says "the End of Days IS at Hand!" And guess who has a starring role as the Anti-Christ?
Wow, this post took a serious turn for the worse all the sudden. One minute I was optimistically talking about poetry and the next, gloom and doom....

well, here it is, my first day back and I'm getting reaquainted with some old friends already. It's nice to know I haven't been forgotten and some people are actually glad I'm back. I have so many poems to post, like about 250, but I can't do it all in one day and I don't want to hog up the new poems list completely. Peace to everyone, even the war-mongers.... ;-} JJ I am currently Happy
