Riding with Nathan

by Beth K Hannah

You seem to speak to me
Full of spite and grace
You laugh at my uncool approach
At my spine and my safety

The second it feels good It's gone for the day
I wait for it to come back
And replenish my cells

The music that gallops from your stereo
Is full of profanity and pride
I pull away from it's grip
And turn down the offered cigarrette

My name is a joke to you
Full of quips and credits
I can't get your smile out of my eyes
And I get ready for the end

Tomorrow is another day
Either away or beside you
Never pulling it down
Or pressing a button
It's gripped by fate.

Author's Note: Oh Nathan...this is one amazing guy. Too bad I can't let myself feel for him.
