The New Day

by Phil P Robson

The new day is dawning
Capsized by the current, compassioned foreboding
The end matters not, but the thirst and the pride
Of empty desires from now ‘till we die

The new day is dawning
No noisy milkman at six in the morning
re-usable glass is expensive, you know
plastics the industry that’s just gonna grow

The new day is dawning
You’ll fall at my feet if I just keep on scoring
Fine fighting men bound for honour and glory
The reward for their sin, the next big story

The new day is dawning
And I don’t need your help, no I won’t heed your warning
Those friends you helped with your mines and guns
Are now killing each other and blaming your sons

The new day is dawning
Alone I remain, Appalachian mourning
Searching for answers at innocence station
Plenty of trains but no destinations
