Summer's Winter Moments by Corey DroverToday I looked at the grass and saw snow
It puzzled me as to why
but for some reason it all looked wrong
This summer's morn feels cold
And with each exhale I feel
like I should be seeing my breath
but instead there's only emptiness
The imaginary frost is settling on the ground
depriving the world of life
while sparrows sing in the distance
Despairs winter kiss is planted firmly
on my heart
I question why there's a yearning inside
for what is not there in front of me
Today reality is the unseen enemy
It's lying to me telling me that
things are warm, not frozen
The lands etiolation is all in my mind
Every sight reminds me of my mortality
It goes that you're never dead
if someone remembers you
Well I'll be remembered by my consorts
but the question is whether they will care
I'll walk the cemetary path
so close to my home
I'll view the glacial landscape in awe
and wonder why only I see this,
wonder why only I feel the polar depths
Will someone please tell me why
today I saw snow
