Back On Earth

by Jersey D Gibson

-Back On Earth-

I have fallen from grace,
and my ashes are scattered,
and I won't be moving from this place.

I have tears in my face,
and my wings are in tatters,
and you judged me in your own haste.

I look,
and I fall,
and I'm willing to crawl.

I sinned,
and I paid,
and I'm willing to go.

Back on Earth.

I have come last in the race,
and the cheers are all dying,
there are no winners in second place.

The will to move on,
still comes, and I'm trying,
and they all still spite your own name.

I look,
and I fall,
and I'm willing to crawl.

I sinned,
and I fell,
and I'm willing to go.

Back on Earth.

To the place where angels still fly.
To the place where people still cry.
To the place where things still try.
To the place where dreams still die.

Author's Note: My first poem on Pathetic, this hit Poem Of The Day within the first three days. Of course, then, it was still called 'Sample Poetry Submission', too, thus why you see the title twice. This is actually partially derived from an Ozzy Ozborne song that was never released for mass publication. When I wrote this, I hadn't heard the song in years, and the lyrics are quite different, with exception of a line or two. If you ever listen to the song, and read this poem, it wouldn't take a lot of imagination to put the two together and notice the simularities. I still think this has one of the best lines I have ever written: "I have come last in the race, and the cheers are all dying, there are no winners in second place."
