Darkness blankets the shadowy earth
A chill whispers in the air
Calls of the past float in
Filling dreams of someone still there

Trying to hold the unconscious state
It hides within the early dawn
Running from the hand of fate
Creeps back to a land far gone

Not knowing that it exists
Going on through the day
Unaware of the secret within
Molding a new life from clay

In and out it flows through the night
Waiting silently for the right time
To take a hold of your total control
It sneaks into the resting mind

Tossing and turning behind the shadows
It takes you to it's darkest domain
Stripping you blind and helpless
Driving you to the edge of the insane

Slowly the sun begins to rise
It's grip loosens the deadly hold
Slipping back into the shadows
Despising the sky of gold
