Porch Sittin' by Jessica A SteenbockPorch Sittin
Bendable plastic chairs
Hold me, sometimes unstable
Wind blowing hard and warm
Bringing rain
Leaves are my audience
They applaud as I perform
Dancing, I step an solid wood
Yellow and brown planks
Knots as eyes stare up at me
And my bare feet slap them
Music in my ears
So sweet
Running through my head
Slow down my thoughts
My eyes hardly watching my hand
The pen hits smooth, lined paper
Barely legible,
Im scrawled across a page
Fibers of woven trees hold me
My thoughts spill in ink from my fingertips
Oily lines and curves move
Scratch the breath of life
Leaves of light move hardly
They sway to the music of my hand
Water ripples on dusty banks
Tiny creatures swept away to a man-made rhythm
Grass delights in clouds, dark clouds
Bringing rain
My sun peaking out from under his covers
Shhhhh
The trees are dancing
Blue sheets underneath him so bright
Tries to stare at me while I tug at his blanket
Go to bed
take a nap
Rain is coming
Beautiful smells invade my nose
Tickle my brain
Breathe, breathe me in
You see, Im coming
Clouds sweep across my tea
Taking my sun
Overcome by my music
The gates are thrown open
The day pours out
Magical ferries fly from its sanctuary
Humming beautiful, so captivating
Shakespeares creation plays my music
Tell me my day
In slightest detail, describe my day
Tell me a story
Lovely, confusing
So draining always
All at once events crash into me
Raindrops one by one scenes fall
Unedited, containing every color
Rush to me, tell me everything
Clips and images are gone
Almost insignificant in retrospect
Every note, flat and sharp
Hurry to me, tell me everything
Come, tell me about me
Drive, take the wheel and pop the clutch
Drive with me. Tell me your secrets
My secrets one in the same
Smoke this and tell me your dreams
No laughing I swear
Cry and drink this my potion,
Concocted for you
Soon, soon dont worry
Smoke curls around my lips as they part
You look at me and I feel so special
You stare, I see you
You stare as I dream and inhale my toxic breathe
You drink and I watch
You sip, tossing back your head and beer
Open your eyes and see me
Turned away
My hair falls and you want to touch me so badly
I brush it away without the chance
I look at you glancing
I watch you watching me
Studying so hard, concentrating so deeply
As we kiss eyelids fall heavy
Dreamy sleep
Our mouths touch
Stealing a piece of each other
I hear my heart as fingers feel my skin
Grasping your shirt I kiss you back
So sweet, so wrong in every eye
I pray that you wont care
Only for me
To be so loved, terrifying
I cant love
Angels sing in my ears
Harps make heavenly music makes me love
Every possible emotion driven by piercing sounds
Such beauty overwhelming sensitives
My sun peaks again from under his blanket
Awake, but only for a while
The trees are dancing to wind
Music in leaves air enriched
My sun settles down
Crazy colorful smile on his face
Radiant
Turns the room shades of subtly
Shadows scurry from behind
New pictures on every wall
Blues and greens mixing oranges and yellows
Puddles of new paint spilled across an entity
Creating all the living and the dead
Separating, thinning each particle watercolors
Dissolve my world
Only I dissolve my world
Naked to the world my room of sun and moon
Earth screams from inside me
Life breathes from me
Everything I am
Populations see my living and my dead
Each new charcoal smudges
Destroying another
Finger-paints cover my body
Life written on an arm
Muscles tense, tendons retract
Whole perceptions change dramatically
Silver turns to gray
And red to black
What once was alive is now born anew
Skipping death
My leaves, applaud
Encore!
I have nothing left as I stand
Naked to my heart
Speaking my truth
Screaming.
