the conductor by Rachelle HoweThe conductor weaves the dynamic
scene of antagonistic melodies.
crescendo mounting upon prickled hair;
captivating the audience with animated arms
and commanding reprise.
Notes ring clear. Each a wound in the
onlookers subconscious.
It was a musical masterpiece still in segue.
His genius was given wings on
the backs of his legionaries;
his vision reborn by flats, sharps, and pitch.
The orchestra failed to grasp the worth
of their Leaders habitual neurosis
he was written off as eccentric and over-driven.
They never understood
until the standing ovation.
They never understood
until the final bow.
