Constructing A Universe So We Don't Have To Ever Say Goodbye

by Tom Goss

Today I’m going to build a sky
Pink and purple-stained with the reality of existence
As dawn burns my eyes with the harsh bite
Of this galactic junkyard full of rusting human hearts

Children of the stars
Sing this growing chorus
Into the core of the Milky Way

Here I am your beacon
Follow my serpentine trail of renewal
As love fills our pockets with seeds of hope

Crimson hearts dance like flickering flames of yearning
As we taste every kiss of hunger like winter turned into spring
And words swirl around us like fawning moons
Luminescent islands afloat on a distant, distant sea

And suddenly we gain freedom
All that exists in the universe
Is the fierce momentum of our bodies, intertwined
