The blank face staring back in
    restroom/restaurant/rearview
mirrors
with glassy eyes
    silently—
    deafeningly—
railing about some Event
so soul-shattering,
the very calendar has shifted.

The earth re-awakens, but We are stuck
in the dead of winter,
mind too frozen
to heave its habitual sigh of relief.
