Facing by Richard VinceMaybe facing the same way
Is fine after all. It is not
So much about not facing
One another as not needing to.
She tried to sell me the idea
Of contentment as boredom,
Stagnation, the inevitable end
Of happiness that would
Leave us craving another
Beginning.
Now that I have reclaimed
My life, I find that it is
What I wanted all along.
My need to start again
Sprang from too many years
Disguising fear as joy
As though I could not bear
To admit I made a mistake.
All the time I faced her,
I was facing the wrong way.

| Posted by Johanna May on 09/04/25 at 12:29 AM Not a bad thing to realize you’re a bawbag if you deserve it (pardon my French). When I catch myself having these realizations, I’m actually relieved it’s like catching yourself with your fly open or your slip showing before anybody else. Sorry for the crudeness, I took liberties if it will make you laugh, or if it offended you, if it offended you, sorry again. :D |
