the grey green sea

by Peter Humphreys

the grey green sea
battling back unwanted
children in froth foaming waves
pushed back
adults wondering what to
or not to do
not that the sea cares
it whips and wanders
those with plan
how dare they
a million years
I've covered this sand
these rocks that humans think are theirs
never
never
when humans lose the battle
they created
I'll be here
yes here I'll be

I love the personification of the angry, arrogant sea. Also love "whips and wanders".
