Diminution of an Echo

by Dane Campbell

Easily definable,
he is whole.
Exact.
Quite quantifiable,
reliable in fact.
I exist only in absentia,
abstract,
lie in narrow lines
where the concrete's cracked.

Infinitesimal,
I am infinitely small—
part of a part of a particle,
if anything at all.
Utterly unindelible,
forgivable to forget:
you leave me
with little sentiment
and your revocable regard.

Bluntly, we made our fine points—
took time to reflect
on how such disparate dots
would never dare connect.
Parallel lines, you remind me,
cannot intersect.
Hyperbole ≠ reality.
There is nothing more to dissect.

There are a few poets on here whose poems I'm always excited to see - you're one of them.
