Collage: A Hundred Equal Faces

by Paul Lastovica

. Beneath the gypsy moon
The color of the hours remain
an unclean struggle
shadows, leaves & birds
cut of fruit
washed of words
by hundreds of stars
nothing may remain but rumor
of the memory

. Dreams of a balcony
of white frost, bitter aloes,
eyes of cold silver
and a horse on the mountain
draped in sheets of fine holland
a trail of blood piercing dawn
suspended above water
knocking at the door
a horse on the mountain

. The horns of a maddened deer
crystals under smoke
essential things in their medium
already gone away wreathed in silence
in a night of four moons
on a track of lips almost white
to one lone tree
to one lone shadow
to one lone bird
