I’ve got a cute little story to tell
It’s about my very close friend Laurie and her two close friends that know each other well
They all stay in touch every minute of the day
Yet when one appears, the other two go away
My own real life Sybil that I love to be around
I’ll show her and her friends off when we get into town

Yes, Laurie’s a very close friend
Yes, we’re friends to the end
She hangs every day with two of her own close friends
This happens every day again and again
One goes by the name of Millie
Millie loves to get a little silly
She and I are very close too
I see her every night when she passes through
She lives in the in-between and disappears into the wine
She doesn’t hang around much
Millie surely is, one of a kind

It’s not that strange when Millie goes away
Mildred shows up around eight-thirty everyday
We’ve become close friends because Laurie’s a friend of mine
Mildred loves to laugh and have a really fun time
She’s the last lap around this daily relay race
Mildred does it all with a smile on her face

When daybreak comes with the morning sun, Laurie will wake and will begin the fun
She’ll take care of business and put everything in its place
She’ll start looking for Millie when five o’clock is on the face
She will find her but then Millie can’t stay
Fill up your wine glass, Mildred's on her way
