I just sat down with plans to write an epic
It all depends on the topics you pick
I’ve never tried to write an epic before
So I had to go outside and smoke a little more
I sat down and thought for quite a while
Then I realized writing an epic just wasn’t my style

To bring it all alive and keep it all out from inside
I thought back to my youth as early as I could find
It’s been a hell of a ride to get here from there
I’ll be back in September with little time to spare

I’ve hooked up with an old family friend
She’ll be there the same time I am
We’ll finally be in the islands and taste how life should be
Joined by the hearts that matter to her and me

We’re so in tune with each other
We’re bound for nothing but fun
If it’s just watching ships pass by
Or just watching the river run

I wish I knew how to write an epic
If I did, I’d know what topic to pick
She’s my only distraction these days
We need each other in so many ways

I’m so glad I get to keep what I find
She said it’s been part of the deal all the time
We’ve only just begun, and it won’t be long
I’ll probably end up writing an epic song

I think I just wrote an epic
Well, at least about one epic time to come
We’re only appearing for one short week
To have some fun in the September sun
