My Angel

by Thomas K. Hunt

My heart had grown tired but I’ve made it to the end
My mind’s made up to never see you again
I don’t want to make the same mistakes as before
There’s no need to get up I know the way to the door

I got tapped on my shoulder and I turned into the light
My angel found me and saved me that night
I have a chance to start over and put a beginning to this end
I have a chance to pick myself up and live my life again

My angel put a new found strength in me
Someday we’ll be together and living free
While I have this strength I’m not wasting anymore time
It's too late I've made up my mind

I’m going to live my days happy and free with loved ones surrounding me
Nothing but smiles and hugs when they’re in need
Even if they’re not they’re always free
I want to hug my angel and hold her close to me

My eyes have grown tired and I’m here for the end
Believe me it’s over I’ll never see you again
I can’t go on like this, I can’t take anymore
So this is the end and I’m out the door

My angel found me in the nick of time
She came out of nowhere and it blows my mind
If she hadn’t found me I’d be at the end of my rope
She’s my guiding light that gives me hope

So believe me when I say I’m sorry and goodbye
After forty years I gave it a pretty good try
Our time is over yes it’s time to move on
It’s time I lived my life for me
In the morning I’ll be gone

My eyes have grown tired and I’m here at the end
I don’t mind repeating myself again and again
You can’t be surprised, after all you know the score
This is the end I can’t take anymore

My angel's with me in the morning light
She follows me around then tucks me in at night
I've heard great things come to those who wait
My angel's living proof that it's never too late
