Collage: A Thousand Years Untaken

by Paul Lastovica

The fifth moon -
in the world of the eye
in a breast of flora
the skull shone
proof of life
the white stone may
graze on the emerald
shaken with doves
just as dark as night
in the world of the eye
-

Revolving in the sky -
birds in throat
as deep as seasons lost
cracked open
the round and low
moon-bathed cithar
threads of blood
tell us what future has
no love in it's arms,
rivulets on a golden map
-

A glow through stable trees -
House lights rising and rinsed clean
abnormally clear
fears like fine sand
hung with banners at the fall of night
turning and turning
patinated
under a silken cloak
among the weather vanes
in the world of the eye
-

Author's Note:

I hadn't really intended to write again, though it's never far from my thoughts. I've been doing A LOT of visual arts lately, and dabbling in music; while poetry has been on the back-burner. But... I randomly began encountering poets on Instagram that kind-of indirectly and directly reawakened the itch. So I slipped into a familiar mode and pieced together a collage of barrowed fragments; put them in a new context which is not entirely unlike how I make art. I hope (if anyone is still routinely active) you all enjoy. I think more will come. Maybe. Possibly.
