Epiphany

by Leonard M Hawkes

I walked here once
Before the park
Along the river's edge;
Harvest gold
The stealthy reeds,
Brown-green
The marshy sedge:

An autumn hunt,
I knew my prey,
Felt you in my soul,
Long before
I knew your love,
Your power
To console.
