Lo and Behold

by Thomas K. Hunt

Lo and behold
I can hear it in his voice
I see it in the lines across his face
He’s center stage while we’re in our happy place
Brilliantly picking his guitar while taking us back in time
He’s the reason I’m writing this song because I fell in love with his rhymes

Oh JT I want to thank you for this life of mine
You came along at the perfect time
The blues is just a bad dream did it for me
That song made my imagination run free

I’ve been with you every step of the way
from nineteen sixty eight to the present day
I’ve been right here from vinyl to compact
I know there are many that may brag about that
I know each song by the first two notes
I even know some in one and that’s no joke

Oh JT I want to thank you for this life of mine
You came along at the perfect time
You put Carolina on my mind
Lo and behold what a wonderful time

On a country road in October watch for the traveling star
If you can’t see it just close your eyes it’s long ago and not that far
Take a trip to Mexico where the senoritas play
Borrow a tune from a buddy and play it everyday
We watched the walking man walk on by but never stopped to ask the reason why
He’s still walking even today and he’s still walking away

Oh JT I want to thank you for this life of mine
You came along at the perfect time
Highway song was a long time ago
Your life is the road as we all know

You told me about shooting to the moon
You told me something different in each and every tune
I listened in the darkness of my room at night
far from the world and out of sight
Golden moments that have faded and some still last
It’s the same with places in my past
Soldiers and mud slide slim are riding on a rail road again

Oh JT I want to thank you for this life of mine
You came along at the perfect time
I remissness about the younger days but you’ve had my ear every step of the way

You’ve done it all from the standards to the blues
Captain Jim will be heading south soon
Wrigley in the summer is the place to be
Your smiling face in the stage lights smiling back at me
I want to thank you James for the pleasure you’ve bestowed
You wrote the sound track of my life
lo and behold
