Agri Culture by Leonard M Hawkes(12 May 2020, Malad, ID)
The World has moved on
And the dream that once was
The prosperity and hope
That long sustained
And drew us on, has changed—
Not gone entirely;
I knew it, lived on its edge,
Studied, worked and even dreamed
Its fantasy of happiness
(Is that too the hope I married?)—
It smolders still somewhere within me,
Yet it is no more the stuff of life—
Memory rather, almost history—
But I feel it still,
Read its once tempting reality
While suffering its fallen virtue
Here in Idaho.
