I'm Tired

by Thomas K. Hunt

I'm tired of sitting on this fence
I'm tired of being so close I can taste it
Let me come down and run, not fall
Let me yell so loud that someone hears my call, and that's not all
I'm tired of all of these fears
I get more tired year after year
I'm tired of chasing my dream
I'm so tired I can't even scream
I'm tired of this same old scene
I'm even tired in between

Let me introduce my songs I've been writing for years
Let me pass them along to open arms and open ears
That's my dream I've had from the start, and if my dream came true, it would speed up my heart

I wouldn't be so tired of anything anymore
Could someone please point me to that door
If my dream came true, I wouldn't ask for more
Another cool thing I wouldn't be poor

You're welcome to sing along to my catchy little tunes
I've even written one about the man in the moon
So sit back and listen or chime right in
Anytime you're ready is the time we'll begin

I've got this hit record that no one knows about
All I'm trying to do is get the word out
I know you'll enjoy it if you give it a chance
Read into the lyrics with more than just a glance

If you feel tired, this will bring you around
It's some of this and that to create a new sound
It's not perfected, but it has real potential
Strings, horns, and percussion are essential

There's room for harmonies, two three or four
You could add a choir so it could be even more
I'll keep the hits coming until I can't sing anymore
or until someone shows me out that door

I'm tired of chasing my dream
I'm so tired I can't even scream
