Home Is Behind His Eyes by Thomas K. HuntHome is behind his eyes
He's not under this same sky
He's been around, but he never left home
He's still out there drifting farther as he roams
Stepping into another day of the unknown
he often ponders why did he ever leave
home
Home is behind his eyes
neatly tucked away yet wearing no disguise
He never tries to hide it
He's been seen right beside it
He alone knows the journey back to fertile ground, and that time will come when he's ready to
settle down
Home is behind his eyes
on the St. Lawrence River under a clear blue sky
He longs for that comfort that only home can give
People don't know him, but they know where he lived
Even he knows that he's way past due
He needs to be at the Wood Boat having a brew
Life holds him back no matter how hard he tries
Images of home live behind his eyes
Home is behind his eyes
The rut runs deeper with each year flying by
He remembers the way things were
He never got the memo no; he never heard a word
Clinging to an ever-changing direction, he can't start his journey home
He holds his truth within his being and never shows what shouldn't be shown
He can't find himself no matter how hard he tries
He may be lost, but home is behind his eyes
