From their kitchens they ruled their domains
Through sorrows and joys and droning days
Pots and pans their precious treasured troves
Interests turning toward the socialist ways
To point attention and to claim the world
reaching beyond society’s limiting gates
Casting off the yokes of domination’s control
finally rising to stand as one, joining their fates
leading the way, those calamitous few souls
ringing out the winter and turning the fields
To plant their ideas in the fertile loam of spring
Pressing, pushing against what is, until it yields
