Eridanus by Peter Humphreys
walking
long-shadowed
on a dusty path
once mud
the guiding trees
bend east
as if to worship
the dawning sun
though truly
from top to bottom
they are crippled
bent against
the western winds
I brought you here once
when dimmed
dark skies
threatened
nay
blasted our faces
in a relentless
merciless
wind
our lips
softened by
passion
all hallowed now
in the grave of thoughtless
love
I see
between the willowed wands
Eridanus
meandering
on horizoned edge
I sit
bemused
by fate
