More Somewhere Than Here

by Johanna May

Glued to a huge rock, circling the sun.
Through layers of dirt, concrete, paint,
carpets, micro-fiber and cotton,
skin, fats, muscles,
blood, bad-habits and hope.
Part of the universe,
unfurling itself
this moment,
one of its edges,
yet unmapped,
seemingly flawed,
secretly perfect.

Shaped by gravity like a falling tear,
more somewhere than here.
