Runaway by Brian Francis
Among the thorns I sought and searched for you
Down rugged streets lined with pain and suffering
I turned the polluted loam of a lost world’s refuse
And prodded the hungry minds of addiction’s home
Yet, still I could not find you
Worry and torment beset me and caused me to suffer
I faded into loneliness, imagining the worst of moments
at altars I begged for intercession, offering atonement
And I watched for you in my every moment as I lived
Yet, you were nowhere around
Rivers of tears have torn and worn my soul’s plateaus
Winds of sorrow rage unabated devastating everything
Purpose seems drained away revealing shoals of blame
Storms of doubt assail me distracting my mind’s thoughts
Yet, you haunt me and I cry
