I Can't Stand This Delay by Thomas K. Hunt
I'm still waiting to step aboard my ship
but she's never docked in her slip
In fact, she hasn't come in as of yet
I pray it's just delayed and not shipwrecked
I can't stand this delay that time has laid on me
I hope today's the day I find that golden key
I can't wait for tomorrow
Point me to the door
I'll beg, steal or borrow
I can't take this anymore
Go on and cut the string
If you won't, give me that thing
It's time to cut you loose
This time there's no excuse
I can't stand this delay
Time has caused this today
Here we are once again
These delays never seem to end
There's a life inside trying to get out
A muted voice behind the eyes wanting to shout
Most have no idea of what I'm talking about
but some of you do, and you know there's no boubt
It's happening everyday
There's been another delay
Life takes hold, and it won't let go
It feels like I'm stuck in a hole
I shouldn't be where I am today
I really need to be on my way
but there's been another damn delay
I can't stand this delay
I can't take another day
Are you hearing what I have to say
If you're leaving, I'm going to stay
I've got a few dimes I'll even pay
You can leave right now before another delay
I can't stand this delay
I've nothing more to say
I say the same thing every day
I always say it the same way
This is no different from any other day
there's been another delay
