Laramide Uplift

by Rob Littler

Once wet, the muddy red beds of Chugwater
Sediment dry dinosaur-less contracting, straining
Into a polygonal interconnected network. Motionless,

Listening, the friction can be heard by the human ear….

And to the eye then, the Earth has formed a lizard skin
To shed. Tessellations of the pseudorandomness begging
Into being by the parched ground, drowning out all others, saying:

“Drought is evidence of what is absent, sprouting hope of a return.”
