Mom and Dad by Thomas K. HuntBlossoms that fall from the family tree
will be replaced long after you and me
Our roots run deep on this river shore
We couldn't ask for anything more
We played hide and seek as children
They lit the guiding light
They grew up the same as us
learning wrong from right
They showed us how to live like them
How to be a woman and how to be a man
I've heard it said it was old school
Some of that old school was pretty cool
We had our moments as all of us do
Those times to rebel and only think about you
That's all part of the plan you see
That's what makes you and me
We felt the love they made sure of that
We share a heart, and that's a fact
We were nurtured and disciplined
Those were good times, believe me, my friend
We hand them down through pictures of smiles
Tell the stories we haven't told in a while
Memories that are a piece of the heart
keep our hearts from falling apart
Blossoms that fall from the family tree
are never forgotten by you or by me
Our roots run deep on this St. Lawrence shore
We couldn't ask for anything more
