She's Here to Stay

by Thomas K. Hunt

I turned around and you were gone
I sat down and wrote this song
It's all about you my dear
Let me make myself perfectly clear

One more year without you
Each year is harder to get through
All I have are my memories
of miles ago and days with you

October moons have come and gone
Distant echos of your birthday songs
Another memory from my past
Each year adding to the last

My life has never been the same
Although you're gone you still remain
Among the pieces of my broken heart
You're the reason it broke apart

Now I find myself once again
as this October comes to an end
feeling that old familiar pain
It's so much worse in the October rain

I turned around and you were gone
I sat down and wrote this song
It's all about you my dear
Let me make myself perfectly clear

Tell me what else can I do
Please, no more years without you
I need my broken heart to mend
I need to hold you in my arms again

See that moonlight in your eyes
Kiss your lips under an October sky
It's time you heard my plea
Please my love come back to me

Can't you see this is no way to live?
You can't forget but you can forgive
One more year without you
is something I don't want to do

I turned around and you were gone
I sat down and wrote this song
It's all about you my dear
Let me make myself perfectly clear

I'm in my own little world
My mind's stuck on just one girl
I work hard to make her go away
but I know she's here to stay
