Hearts are heavy down here tonight
Tears shed under the palms and the silver moonlight
Tears of greif from a senseless act
Tears for those that can only look back

This is the world that we live in
This is the world where we plant our dreams
How many more dreams will be shattered?
How many more cries and screams?

For those that have been touched by this evil
For your pain there is no equal
You now share a permanent stain
There is no cure for your pain

Know that hearts surround you
They support you in your need
It's hard when dreams are shattered
especially when they grew from your seed

There are no words of comfort
If there are they're lost to me
Hearts are heavy down here tonight
That's not the way it should be

This is the world that we live in
What kind of world have we made?
We live in fear of terror
We live in fear of what we say

Our children are our future
They will write our history
Join me in a prayer tonight
Pray for how it used to be

We need to lead them to peace
Teach them to share the world
Force this evil to cease
Find the love in every boy and girl
