Remembering Memories that Hide in My Mind by Thomas K. HuntAs I sit myself down at the end of the night
I look down on pure white
My mind begins to wonder back in time
remembering memories that hide in my mind
You'd be amazed at what I can find
I've even seen you a couple of times
Oh you?, I've seen nine or ten
Not nearly as much as you my friend
Remember the time we split a dime?
Ten pieces of candy
You took five and I took mine
What were you thinking?
It's a riddle and a rhyme
I do that from time to time
Here I sit at another days end
remembering memories of family and friends
Memories all sane and sound
Memories that are easily found
They live within my heart and mind
and that's why they're so easy to find
Echos of laughter
Faces wearing smiles
I love the memories I haven't seen in a while
There's no limit on what you may find
Memories are made all of the time
There are two kinds, some good and some bad
They're still the only memories that you'll ever have
Whether they make you laugh or cry
They're all yours until the day you die
The pure white is now scratched with black lines
Traces of memories found in my mind
Visions brought to life at the end of the day
They drifted in and here they lay
I've said too much with nothing to say
Who am I any way?
I'm still here in this time
remembering memories found in my mind
Do you remember when you said goodbye?
I'll never forget that look in your eyes
You closed the door but I never said goodbye
That memory always makes me cry
As I sit myself down at the end of the night
Reading back rhymes on pure white
They've come through me from what I could find
remembering memories that hide in my mind
At the end of the night when you close your eyes
Vision the river under sunny blue skies
Remember a memory you haven't thought of in a while
Only remember the ones that make you smile
