Cities show decay, rusted iron works, and rough rotting streets
inner cities where the rot is conspicuous and predatory
Neighborhoods from warehouses; lofts, apartments and condominiums
new life from old; fancy coffee shops and gathering places, hot spots
an island of congeniality in a withering garden

Forgo the narrow passageways of other centuries these ancient streets
where families struggle under their burdens while being bombarded
with the promise of tomorrow's hope.

Egos govern and struggle to become dominate their vision the only
vision they are willing to support they gather in their friends and swear lies
unable to fairly attain their goals the fudge the numbers and outcomes
decades away

the loudest lie the most persistent voice of deception defies reality --
tell them it is the truth and they will believe, smile at them
and build trust

Nations show their decay by the leaders they allow to defecate on
all they hold dear and honor.
