Let's go cruise through the islands
Let's take your boat to our favorite place
Drop anchor and put a smile on your face
This is what we do when we're here
Priority one fill the cooler with beer

If you miss the boat there's another right behind
I once missed the boat over twenty eight times
I didn't think I was that hard to find
I gave up after twenty nine

What time did you say you were leaving the dock?
I'm trying to remember if I set my clock
I'll be there at the crack of dawn
If you don't see me I'm sure you'll be gone
Once again I missed the boat
Not even the courtesy of a note

All I wanted to do is cruise the islands with you
I'm alone on this dock over here
I'm so glad I brought my own beer
I know you're off having my fun
On the river under the sun

I'm turning red in the sun alone on this dock
I'm most certain I did set my clock
For some reason you always change the time
I missed that memo
I miss it every time

Hey if you don't want me in your boat
go ahead and say so without a lump in your throat
Then I'll know to just wave goodbye
and catch the next boat stopping by

I've been left on this dock twenty nine times before
I don't want to make it any more
I just want to cuise the river with you
That's the only thing I want to do

The last guy said he didn't have enough pfd's
I find that very hard to believe
I've heard that excuse before
I bet under the bow he's got plenty more

River Rats always wave from their boats
I get no waves from any of these folks
They just look staight ahead and ride
They never look side to side

I always miss the boat and have to stay home
It's time I bought a boat of my own
I'll no longer have to set my clock
I'll no longer be alone on this dock

I'll cruise the river any time I feel
On occassions use my rod and reel
Sit back and let the river be my ride
With or without you by my side
