My Place in Time

by Thomas K. Hunt

Every day I look for myself
I'm somewhere hiding up on a shelf
Send me a signal, show me a sign
Point me to my place in time

I've been beside myself, but still, I'm lost
I can't seem to find my way
I've been searching for an open door
They're hard to find, and that's for sure

Dazed and confused, and I know why
Can't clear my mind no matter how hard I try
I'm still waiting for my turn to come
I hope it happens before I'm done

It's just me alone in my mind
Trying to make the best of time
Searching for answers
Looking for clues
If I had a choice, which would I choose?

I've been beside myself right beside you
I don't know what it is I can do
I should by now; this is nothing new
I've been beside myself I thought you knew

Every day I look to myself
I can't seem to get off this shelf
I know it's all in my mind
Point me to my place in time

I've been beside myself, but I'm not lost
It's hard to look back and count the cost
Lost answers that may never be found
Silent and buried under the ground

Even if you go, you're still here
In hearts and minds where you could never disappear
Moments remembered that felt just right
Loving laughter echoing in the night

Every day I'm beside myself
I put myself up on this shelf
There's no signal
There's no sign
I'm in my place in time

I'm smiling; take a look behind my eyes
There within the truth does lie
Search deep within your own mind, and you will find
You're sure to find your own place in time
