by Gilly Wigley

As I lay awake in this sun scorched world
I lather myself with bitter mist
for I fear it's the only thing keeping me from
shriveling up in this sour lemon sky
of the only world I know to call home

As this sharp wind pops my bubble
the only space that sets me apart
from the rest of the world
all the lost people crowd around me
suffocating the tears in my body
looking for the comfort
that I haven't found myself

As the glow of the suns light expires
extinguishing warmth in all passion
as one bird of hope
flutters out the window
as one life
fails to keep it's promise
I fall asleep in the shadows
dreaming of a world that will never be

Nice write lady, but I see life as the human burden we carry and through writing poetry try to share our feelings, desires, and both the UPS and downs of life for what ever reason we have. Take care................. g
