I Just Want To Be In The Mountains by Leonard M HawkesI just want to be in the mountains again;
I just want to watch the sun rise;
I just want the pinewood to sing in my soul
'Neath a tranquil and wide open sky.
I do like the folks that I'm working with here,
There's good talk and laughter and fun,
And the paved road's convenient and my cubicle's cooled,
But I'm missing the earth and the sun.
I just want to be in the mountains again;
Back where the air's fresh and clean,
Back where the waters are cold and so clear,
Back where the meadows are green.
Nights here are pleasant, there's plenty to do,
There's music and good food, and wine,
And there's safety in numbers and light on the streets,
But I'm missing that coyote's whine.
I just want to be in the mountains again;
I just want to watch the moon rise;
I want the dark pinewood to sing to my soul
'Neath a starry an wide open sky.
It's strange what we'll offer to answer love's call,
What we'll give for a lady's soft hand,
But there's something that's stronger, that won't go away,
That longing for freedom and land.
I just want to be in the mountains again;
I'm so tired of being alone;
Back to that pinewood that's deep in my soul,
Back to that place I belong.
I just want to be in the mountains again;
I'm so tired the of crowd and the drone;
Back to that pinewood that sings in my soul,
Back to that place where I'm home.
