I Always Sing Along

by Thomas K. Hunt

I've followed the music
I was eleven at its birth
We've traveled our lives through songs
I know every word by heart
I always sing alone

I've got a comfortable chair right over there
That's my spot beside my pool
I get lost in my mind for a short time every sunday in the afternoon

Memories drift in on the music then fade for another time
I close my eyes and my own motion pictures run for free in my mind

I've got a comfortable chair right over there
It has everything that I need
There's a place for my cup I don't have to get up
There's even a pocket for my weed

I get off on my sunday trips after a saturday night blitz
I just lay back and soak up the sun at noon
Lay back and enjoy a few good tunes
James brings that alive throughout the afternoon

I've got a comfortable chair right over there
Try to take it, go on I dare
I'll just say excuse me please, that chair you're going to have to leave

You see it's in this spot and this spot is for me
I'm not saying that you have to leave
Take that chair, yes that one over there
Won't you sit down please
I've got plenty to share

That chair over there beside mine, now that's a pretty nice chair
Go on over and try it
I'm certain you'll be comfortable there

I've got a comfortable chair right over there
That's where you'll find me if you care
I'll be in my chair on sunday afternoon
Kicking back with some JT tunes

I've followed the music
I was there at its birth
I know every word of every song
I always love to harmonize
I always sing alone
