The Words I Do

by Thomas K. Hunt

I've got my habits
I see what I do
By now, you should see it too
I shouldn't have to explain a thing to you
There should be no explaining to do

You have your habits
I see what you do
Sometimes I see right on through
I still love you for all the things that you do
Without you, I would have never made through
I wouldn't be me if it weren't for you

I'm still me after all these years
Together we've shared the same fears
I see no changes coming up around here
We love each other, and that's very clear

We joined as one and hit the road to life
when we became husband and wife
Ever since that day, my heart's been with you
right after you said the words, I do

We hit that road, and it was oh so smooth
Just sat back and enjoyed the ride
We fell into our own little groove
I thank the lord you were by my side

We're not running out of the road just yet
We haven't seen our last sunset
Together we'll stay the course
And watch another from our back porch

I want to thank you for my life
I thank you for choosing to be my wife
We've seen so much of our hearts and minds
A committed love to last for all of time

We built a solid life with family and friends
A love forged that will never end
We've always been true; there's no need to pretend
If I had the chance, I'd do it all over again

I promised you it would be a one time deal
I felt it then, and I can still feel the feel
Thank you, my love, for sharing my life
Thank you, love, for being my wife

You've got your faults, and I have a few
That's when we both see right on through
I love you for just being you
Thank you for saying the words I do
