6/15/17 by Meghan HelmichI'm glad my mom was not an organ donor.
I wouldn't want to meet her eyes again
in someone else's gaze.
We turned her to ash right away
and for a while I had part of her with me.
In a plastic ziplock bag, a few spoonfuls
of her beautiful body, now reduced to gray
dust, wrapped in a purple drawstring bag.
And now I've lost her again,
my belongings given away and tossed out.
