Eternal Sisters

by Thomas K. Hunt

Two lives shared from a distance
Two souls walking hand in hand
Eternal sisters and the best of friends

Annette and mother were like sisters
They were born from sisters
They forged a love in their hearts and minds
A love that will last beyond the end of time

Both with so much talent
Loving each other's pride
Mother found a pilot
Annette found her voice and took a beautiful ride

Mother had her children
She was so proud of her only four
Trading pictures in letters
Comparing from the years before

Annette had it all and helped Lucille Ball
with her voice so velvety and smooth
Word got around, she was the talk of the town
Then she helped out Ava Gardner too

Happy for their memories from a lifetime ago
Both knowing the other would never let go
Shared memories of younger years
Reading letters through laughter and tears

Year after year I'd come home and hear
I talked to cousin Annette again today
She'd be smiling from ear to ear
Then she'd tell me what she had to say

The years rolled by
Living on opposite sides
I watched life get in the way
I witnessed it every day

Two lives shared from a distance
Two souls forever walking hand in hand
Eternal sisters and the best of friends
