Mother And Child by Thomas K. HuntTwenty visits in twenty years
Each visit ending with tears
Two hurting hearts having to say goodbye
That last look at each other's eyes
A mothers love is endless
She'd die so you could live
Her love is unconditional
She gives all she can give
There is a saying, "you only have one mother"
Nothing could be more true
You came from her; there is no other
She's a part of you
You're in her mind every day of the year
It doesn't matter if you're far or near
You're a thought in from the blue
A warm smile as she thinks of you
Separation is the hardest thing between a mother and her child
Always knowing when the time came, her child would have to run wild
Leave the nest and fly away
Learn how to make their own way
All she can do is hope and pray
She does that every day
Long distant joys that traveled many miles
Pictures with letters she knew would bring a smile
I was blessed every day of the year knowing mother was here
Just a phone call away
Always something to say
Every Sunday, her phone would ring
Oh, the joy those calls would bring
I knew she'd want to know everything
Patiently waiting for her phone to ring
To hear her laughter and share the tears
Filling in the twenty years
Each time harder to say goodbye
I'd hang up and have a cry
Oh the joy her memory brings
Her love and comfort
Her everything
Twenty visits in twenty years
Each visit ending with tears
Two hurting hearts having to say goodbye
That last look at each other's eyes
