Nasty Little Nuisance by Brian Francis
Oh I have a little dog
that doesn't care for my existence
he gets up and runs away
should I dare to come around
His lip curls in derision
if he looks in my direction
with an added little rumble
if in passing I glance down
If I insist he will play with me
snapping at my fingers
growling rather ferociously
in a fit of raucous glee
and when he wins the moment
and clamps upon my fingers
he stops while holding firmly
and looks into my eyes
The threat is unmistakable
as his hold just barely tightens
before quickly letting go
pulling back for another strike
but the times when he shivers
when loud noises ring in clusters
or when the thunder rumbles
in the distance in the night
these the times that I adore
as I bask in his attention
in my arms he wants to cuddle
he has found me once again
