I'll Die Happy

by Thomas K. Hunt

Loving spirits within live on
They join each other in the beyond
All thankful for the things they've done
and for the time they shared the same sun

I give thanks to my family and to my friends along the way
Without your love and guidance, I wouldn't be who I am today
I have so much to live for
I'll die a happy man
Knowing that life will go on
This was always my plan

It started out with dad and mother
Respect was taught and learned
Two sisters and a brother
They're still here at every turn

Growing up with my growing pains
Learned the difference between right and wrong
Lots of freedom but still held by the reins
Harmonizing to a hand me down song

Planted in my memory is that first day of school
Meeting at the park fountain
I'm me and who are you?
Bonded friendships forged in a day
I have so many more brothers and sisters today

Cruised through adolescence
Floated on a breeze
It was the best of times
It was the time I became me

I wouldn't change a single thing
My lifelong friends are everything
I wouldn't have it any other way
That's why I'll die happy some day
