The Spiraling Geometry Of A Somnolent Heart

by Tom Goss

Spoken in a whisper:
translucence of sky erupts
only when the sun pierces
this glassy-eyed visage.

Rainbow-filled echoes of forsaken goodbyes
rebound in bittersweet fractals against your full blossom lips,
growing in wild formations like crystals sped up to the speed of light.

Here,
I roam towards the epicenter of awareness
sleepwalking through an icy forest at night,
my lingering repose on the verge of breaking,
emerging like a dinosaur from the egg of faintly lingering memory.

Life was once like a moonlit kiss.
Life was once like a moonlit kiss.

Like excited conspirators,
we shared the twisting of our tongues
in the shimmering still of the night.
